It takes a while to get down the street because Sabine has to go up to each step and try it out.

Just discovered your blog today. Enjoying what I've read so far...I live in Oregon, but spent 9 years in Japan and came back to the US with Japanese husband & two kids in tow. Took lots of French in HS & college. Fantasized about living in France many times (too many movies). Love your way of putting things. One thing about the restaurants to remember is that you are from the Carolinas, where people are extremely polite. I'm from the Midwest, here in Oregon, I find waiters a bit rude. There was a literally a fly in my soup once, and no apology was made, they just replaced it. No free food or reduced check. Oregonian wait staff get minimum wage so they aren't dependent on tips.
